Enjoy a STEM lesson and activity project in our innovative maker space.

Includes:

6th-8th grade only
Facilitated hands-on project-style lesson lasting 60 minutes, with extra transition time
$250 for 90 minutes (one class); $350 for 2.5 hours (2 classes)
Please note: with two classes, one class will wait in the exterior courtyard and be provided with self-led activities while they wait for the project. There are no Facilitators available for supervision in the courtyard.

Projects offered:

Textile Tour: This art focused field trip provides a tour of different experiences in manipulating fabric, showcasing functional uses of creative arts, and providing examples of different cultural uses of fabric and textiles.
Mini Makers: Engage with the design process in this engineering-focused field trip. Using the concepts of scaled models, basic geometry, and financial literacy, students will build and test bridges.
Junkbots: Design, create, and compete with your very own robots made from recycled materials. Students will explore robotics, circuitry, and the engineering design process in this hands-on experience.

The Makery has limited capacity. The space cannot accommodate more than 20 people, including all adults.
Everyone must be included in the admission prices, including all adults and any siblings joining the visit.
All students must be accompanied by an adult (teacher or chaperone) for the duration of the visit.
Payment can be made before, during, or after visit; payment is due maximum 30 days after visit.
Visits to The Makery are only available on weekdays, Monday-Friday. Field trip requests must be made at least 4 weeks before the preferred visit date to ensure adequate staffing and resources. Requests later than 4 weeks may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The Makery does not have a gift shop or food for sale. However, we share the space with a coffee shop and Boxyard RTP has a variety of restaurant options.
